H is for I just can't Help it, it makes me laugh...

...or Ha Ha ....or Hilarious.

So who can deny that having children is prime opportunity for some serious laughs?  Ocassionally I catch these funny moments on camera and then I get to laugh at them again and again.

First up, this funny pic will definitely take me out of the running for Mother of the Year.  But in my defense she wasn't hanging there that long, her Daddy was very close by, and she was actually enjoying herself at first...until it took me too long to turn the camera on and suddenly her proud moment turned into a nightmare...

No worries.  She made it back safely on the ground to make me laugh again in a potato sack race...

I'm so GQ staring off into the distance while I pretend not to notice my mom taking a picture of me...

Okay, I'll acknowledge her presence and flash her a smile so maybe she'll leave me alone...

Really, Mom?!  Are we done now...

Another laugh out loud trio...

There was a blue moon about a month ago but I couldn't get a shot of it.  They were standing around, unimpressed, until I insisted that they at least acted interested...

Just hangin' out watchin' tv...

What is it with boys and swords?  Look at that face.  Don't even try to take it from me, Mom.

Aw...they love each other!  Sort of...

My boys love to dance.  They unfortunately got their dancing skills from me...

A day at the water park made for a boat load of funny pictures...

And a few super cheesy grins...

I wonder where they get it from?...

Finally, if I had a quarter for every time I said, "Will you please take your finger out of your nose so I can take this picture?"...

Blogging through the Alphabet ~ Catching Up

E is for ...Eye Infection
A couple weeks ago L3 laid down for a nap and awoke with a swollen eye.  As the day progressed it only got worse.  Chad took him to the ER at the pediatrician's suggestion.  IV antibiotics, a CT Scan, and hours later they returned home (at about 2 am).  Unfortunately the next day it was even worse.  You can see from the pic on the left that his eye was completely swollen shut.  Pediatrician's visit and more antibiotics and the swelling finally went down the next day (pic on the right).  L4 has spent more time in the hospital than the rest of our children combined...*sigh*.  You can also see from the pics that he doesn't seem to actually look sick at all...and I can assure you, he never slowed down.

F is for ...Friends and Field Trip
Field trips are always so much more fun with friends!  Last week we spent the day at the zoo with another family that we love.  It was a little cool, but we didn't mind.  We prefer field trip learning over book learning most days!

G is for ... Godly Heritage
This past weekend we had the pleasure of once again standing before our congregation and dedicating a sweet baby to the Lord.   It's truly amazing to see this large brood that God has given us.  I'm praying that somehow amidst the chaos and noise and mess that we can model enough humility and grace to pass on a Godly heritage to these children.  Oh LORD, please let them see our sincerity and forgive us of our hypocrisy.

Drawing my Prayers

A few weeks ago, our church hosted a guest speaker who came to teach on the subject of prayer.  His powerful message really impacted our church.  Many, myself included, made commitments to spend more time in prayer.

I've kept prayer journals throughout the years and found them beneficial in keeping me focused and and in keeping a record of my prayers.  I knew I wanted to begin something similar.  After all, with eight children I am often interrupted during my prayer time and lose focus easily with so many distractions.  That's when I had the idea to draw my prayers.

I wanted to be able to do a task that I would keep me focused on my prayer, but that I could stop when I needed to and come back to whenever.  I looked online for resources thinking surely someone had thought of this idea before, but found very little.  So, I just jumped right in...

This picture (above) I drew one day while I was just praising God for His creation.

Eventually, (I don't even think it was the same day), I began praying for husband and began doodling on the same page.

This went on for a few days.  We were praying through a particular period asking for God's provision and that Chad would have victory at work.

Another day, I was praying that God would fill my cup and praying that I would exhibit the fruit of the Spirit.

And here I was responding to a verse that God had used to speak to me that day.

Once again I'm linking up to "Blogging through the Alphabet".  It's the letter 'D' this week, so check out Marcy's post and link up yourself!

C ... is for Caverns

Recently our family visited Squire Boone Caverns.  This homeschool mama is a sucker for abandoning school book work in trade for a good field trip...and this was certainly a good field trip!

Temperatures are starting to cool down in our area giving us a glimpse of my favorite season to come.  Fall!

We descended 72 steps down into the cavern following the lead of our tour guide.  Interestingly enough, he was a homeschool dad!  He and his wife homeschooled their son all the way through high school starting in 1990.

The beautiful stalagmites looked like folds of fabric.

We passed two waterfalls.  So pretty!

Also, we observed the grave of Squire Boone, Jr. (founder of the cavern and brother to Daniel Boone).

We were told that bats were rarely seen flying through the cave, but after spending a full minute in complete darkness our guide told us there was one bat that could always be seen in the caverns.  He shined his flashlight towards the ceiling above our heads...
Yeah, it was pretty cool.  We were impressed at least!

After visiting the hand dipped candle shop, we all headed back to the car.  There sure are a lot of kids in that picture, aren't there?

Oh wait, one more!  He's trying to keep up. :)

B is for Birthdays

We celebrate birthdays quite frequently around here.  As a matter of fact, we celebrated two birthdays just this past weekend.  L2 is L3 now and E8 is the big E9.

These boys are just so handsome.

L3 received his favorite items ... cars!!!

...And he enjoyed being pulled around the yard in his new wagon.

E9 received a MP3 player and video equipment for his blogging and vlogging.  What?!  You haven't checked out E9's blog?  You totally should.  He's awesome.  Here's a sneak peek for you...his video titled '7 Reasons It's Great to be in a Large Family'.

Once again, I'm linking up to Ben and Me's Blogging through the Alphabet.  You might like to head over there to see a post all about a 'Not' Back to School field trip that we had the pleasure of attending with her.
